Modern smartphones and tablets nowadays require more and more charging current to quickly recharge their batteries and often demand 2A and more from the power supply units. To ensure that this charging current reaches the mobile device with as little loss as possible, micro-USB is the smallest connector type of USB in order to accommodate the ever smaller devices such as smartphones, mobile phones, PDAs and digital cameras. There are 2 connector shapes: Micro-A connector (rectangular design, for the host side) and Micro-B (trapezoidal design, for the device side). Micro-B is the most common plug shape that mobile device manufacturers have agreed on as the standard.
